Discovery Communications and the BBC have signed a long-term partnership for the coverage of the Olympic games. The BBC will be the UK's exclusive free-to-air broadcasters for the next five Olympic games. Discovery is committed to striking innovative partnerships across Europe after winning the rights to the games in 2015. This builds on a 30 year partnership between the two companies.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) have awarded Discovery's EuroSport rights to The Olympic Games 2018 to 2024 in over 50 European Countries. Previously FiveSport had won the same rights and it was through these rights that RTÉ was able to buy The Olympic Games 2016. The games have been awarded to Discovery Communications owners of pan-European TV satellite broadcaster EuroSport, however rights do not cover British or French rights.
The Finn Valley Athletic Club in Co. Donegal announced their Fit 4 Life Leaders. The announcement was made at their annual athletics Christmas celebration. The four leaders are Mark Connolly, Dermot McGranaghan, Mary Martin and John/Louise Mailey. Club chairman Patsy McGonagle underlined the contributions that each bring to their group and the important social, physical and health benefits that ensue.
