Met Eireann, the Irish Meteorological Office, has issued a level Orange warning for the counties of Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Longford, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo. Snow showers will occur this evening, tonight and during Friday. Accumulations of 4 to 8 cm expected, with the larger values on high ground. Icy roads and footpaths.

The Dublin team ratched up 4 goals against the Mayo team at the All Ireland Ladies Football final, with Mayo only able to gain 11 points against the Dublin team. This comes after a 1 point loss in the men's finals. Croke Park was attend by close to 50,000 spectators, the largest ever seen for the final.

Dublin have won the All Ireland Football final for a 3rd year in a row. Mayo haven't won a title since 1951, they have been to the final 9 times since 1951 but have failed to break there loosing streak. The score was a nail biting 1-17 to 1-16, with Dublin's Dean Rock scoring the final point for a Dublin Victory.

The Gardaí in Swinford, Co. Mayo are investigating the death of 31 year old Joseph Deacy. Deacy, from St. Albans, England, was taken to Mayo University Hospital with sever injuries to his head. He was later taken to Beaumount Hospital in Dublin where he was pronounced dead on Sunday evening 13/8/2017.

The Mayo Stroke Support Group is an initiative of the HSE and Croí (a Mayo based charity). The group has announced its new schedule with the first meeting being held in Ballina's Newman Institute on Thursday 30th January from 11:30 to 13:00. Regular meetings will take place on the last Thursday of the month until June, the meetings will alternate between Castlebar and Ballina.
