The Roscommon and Longford Divisional Drugs Unit of An Garda Síochána seized €21,000 worth of cocaine in two separate search operations. The searches were carried out in Longford town. A house in the town was searched on Sunday 23rd of August, 2020. A second address was searched on Tuesday, 25th of August, 2020. The drugs have been sent for analysis. A man in his 30s was arrested and released without charge, a file has been send to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Met Eireann, the Irish Meteorological Office, has issued a level Orange warning for the counties of Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Longford, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
