It has been announced on twitter that Slane 2012 will not go ahead. This is the second major musical event to be postponed, with Oxegen 2012 also being cancelled. Both are set to return in 2013. Music fans still have Electric Picnic 2012  to look forward to with headline acts THE CURE, THE KILLERS, ELBOW, SIGUR RÓS, CHRISTY MOORE, ORBITAL, HOT CHIP and THE XX.

The Slane Concert is one of the biggest rock events in Ireland. Geils Band, The Chieftains and George Thorogood and the Deserters. The '80s continued with headline acts U2, Bod Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Queen and David Bowie. It took a break for 5 years and return in 1992.

In the '90s headliners included Guns N' Roses, Neil Young, R.E.M, The Verve and Robbie Williams. The concert took a break in 1994, 1996 and 1997.
