Irish Producers Attend MIPTV

Enterprise Ireland and Bord Scannán na hÉirean (BSÉ/IFB) are supporting the Ireland on Screen initiative at this year's MIPTV, which is taking place in Cannes this week.

MIPTV (Market for International Professionals: Television) provides a platform for the newest TV programmes, formates and innovations.

Ireland will be represented by a diverse group of Irish producers and broadcasters. In attendance at this years festival are RTÉ, Windmill Lane Pictures, Screen Scene and Screentime Shinawil.

12,000 TV professional from over 100 descend on the town of Cannes in the Luxury Côte d'Azur (Riviera) for MIPTV.

This will allow Irish producers to network and explore new co-production opportunities with their counterparts around the world.

The BSÉ/IFB aim to reinforce Ireland's strong profile as a destination for television production, based a number of successful international productions in the country.

Irish delegates to the event contributed to attracting programmes such as Primeval, Sinbad, Ripper Street and Vexed to Ireland. More than €25million worth of foreign direct investment.

The IFB's Film Commissioner, Naoise Barry, and Chief Executive James Hickey is attending.
