Irish Docs for Sheffield Doc Fest

The Reluctant Revolutionary and We Went To War are to screen at the Sheffield Doc Fest. The Festival runs from the 13th to the 17th of June.

The Reluctant Revolutionary was premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival in February and has also screened at Hot Docs in Canada. The film tells the story of the Yemen revolution as it unfolds. Kais, a tour guide leader, tells the story of his countries revolution and the changing time of Yemen. The film was produced by Rachel Lysaght and Elum Shakerifar for Underground Films with funding from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/The Irish Film Board (BSÉ/IFB) and BBC Storyville. The filmmaker Sean McAllister was given access to a country that few camera crews or journalist were allow to remain.

We Went to War is produced by Rebekah Tolley, James Mitchell and Andrea Singer for Soho Moon Pictures and Tarian Films, with funding from BSÉ/IFB, Film Agency Wales, Shoot for the Moon, Channel 4 and NRK. Filmmaker Michael Grigsby returns to his 1970 film I Was A Soldier, which told the story of Vietnam veterans David, Dennis and Lamar. We Went to War continues their story 40 years later.
