Irish Film for SIFF

Five Irish films will screen at the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF). Citadel, Earthbound, El Gusto, Dreams of Life and Foxes will all screen at the festival. This is the 38th Annual SIFF.

Citadel tells the story of a father of a young girl captured by a gang of twisted feral children. It was produced by Blinder Films by Katie Holly and Brian Coffey. Directed by Ciaran Foy the film has already picked up the Audience Choice Award at SXSW Film Festival 2012.

Earthbound tells the story of Joe Norman who is told by his dieing father that he is an alien hiding on earth. Later in life Joe finds love but soon he and his girlfriend are on the run from intergalactic bounty hunters. The film is produced by Ripple World Pictures and Directed by Alan Brennan. The film will screen at the "Sci-fi and Beyond" section of the festival.

El Gusto is a documentary about a 73 year old Algerian guitarist Mustafa Tahmi, from film maker Safinex Bousbia. Mustafa Tahmi is late for a reunion and on his journey to a special concert he tells his story of the great friendship between Muslim and Jewish musicians before the political and religious turmoil of Algeria. The film is produced by Heidi Egger for Quidam Productions, it will screen at the "Face the Music" program of the festival.

Dreams of Life is the story of Joyce Vincent (38) who dies in her bedsit in North London. However she is not found for another 3 years. Newspaper reports provide little detail of Joyce's life not even a photo. Film Maker Carol Morley goes on a quest to find out who is Joyce Vincent and how she became so forgotten. The film is produce by Soho Moon Pictures and will also screen at the "Sci-fi and Beyond" Section of the festival.

Foxes was funded under the IFB/BSÉ Signature scheme. It will screen as part of the "Long Journey to Hell" programme. Produced by Brunella Cocchiglia for Lovely Productions, the short tells the story of a young couple trapped in a "ghost" estate. Shrieking foxes can be heard by the couple calling them into the twilight world.
