New Head OF Drama AT Channel 4

Jay Hunt, Chief Creative Officer at Channel 4, has announced the appointment of Piers Wenger as the new Head of Drama. Wenger is Film 4's Senior Commissioning Editor, he will lead the Channel 4 Drama commissioning team to provide Drama output across all Channel 4 channels.

He will continue in his role as Executive Producer for Film4 on selected projects with Controller of Film and Drama, Tessa Ross. This will help support the work of both the Drama department and the Film Department at the Public Service Broadcaster.

Announcing the new appointment, Jay Hunt said: "Piers is an exceptional creative leader with a brilliant track record for delivering unmissable drama. His passion for distinctive authorship makes him the ideal fit with Channel 4. I can't wait to work with him."
Tessa Ross said: "Channel 4 Drama will enjoy a very exciting time with Piers at the helm and I very much look forward to continuing to work with him."
Piers Wenger said: "It's a hugely exciting time to be taking on this role and I can't wait to start work with Jay and the team on developing a new generation of drama for Channel 4.
"I'm also greatly indebted to Tessa Ross and all at Film 4 for the expertise they have shared in the last six months and it's a dream come to true to be able to continue those relationships into my new role."
Before joining Film 4, Piers Wenger was Head of Drama for BBC Wales where he executive produced the BBC's hugely successful Doctor Who under lead writer Steven Moffat. His BBC executive producer credits also include BBC Two's BAFTA and RTS award winning Eric and Ernieand the critically acclaimed Christopher and His Kind, Kevin Elyot's account of Christopher Isherwood's Berlin years. During his time at BBC drama, he was the commissioning editor forParade's End, Sir Tom Stoppard's forthcoming adaptation of Ford Madox Ford's quartet of novels charting the First World War.
